Meet Me in Montauk

"You Can Do Better Than Me"

I've been slipping through the years
My old clothes don't fit like they once did
So they hang like ghosts of the people I've been

It's like my heart can't be tamed
I fall in love every day
And I feel like a fool

I have to face the truth
That no one could ever look at me like you do
Like I'm something worth holding on to

'Cause you can do better than me
But I can't do better than you

It seems like I keep stumbling across beautiful things when I am in debt and can't spend aaaanything. These are ridiculously priced anyway but I love them all so much. This new discovery (found on another fashion blog): Bebaroque tights.

Feast your eyes

I want every single pair. Very much indeed.

Also I seemed to have missed exactly when the Versace for H&M was released online, not that I can afford it anyway, but if I could...well, these are what I would have liked!!

This was one of my favourite pieces, the pink studded dress.

Another couple of favourites:

Also loved a black pleated skirt with gold trim, and a drapey black studded dress but couldn't find any pictures of those.

The three above are quite fun, but the two piece set on the left I can't help but find incredibly tacky (the fashion snob within me is rearing its ugly head...)

There were also a few more things which were lovely but i'm in a lazy mood!
Last night, on a whim, Sam and I went to see Death Cab For Cutie. They are one of my favourite bands but I had already seen them on the same tour in July, so wasn't too fussed if I couldn't go this time round. But I have never been so pleased with an impulse decision. The gig was amazing, they were even better the second time round and seemed just as full of energy as they were at the start of the tour, 3 months ago. Despite quite a sombre start opening to 'Bend to Squares' (although a very good song, we thought maybe he was upset because of his split with Zooey D!), Gibbard spent most of the set dancing and jumping about, and they played for 2 hours and had a 6 song encore including the full 8 minutes of Transatlanticism which was BEAUTIFUL. They even played possibly one of my favourite songs of all times - A Lack Of Color - which I was VERY very happy about as apparently Ben has only just started including it in the set list again. If the drunk people next to us hadn't been screeching and ruining the atmosphere a bit, I probably would have teared up! Also pleasantly surprised that they played a lot of my older favourites including Blacking Out The Friction, Soul Meets Body, and We Looked Like Giants. Very different set list to the gig in July where they played a lot of new stuff. I can’t believe I even considered not going, one of the best nights i’ve had in ages.

Earlier in the day Jude and I met at Liverpool Street and went to Brick Lane. Sadly I had nooo money so couldn't buy any beautiful vintage-y clothes but luckily could afford one of the famous Brick Lane bagels (splashed out a whole £1.00 on that, yep). Also ended up in UO which was surprisingly cheap considering the online stuff, another reason I am gutted that i'm broke and have quit my job (I still don't remember why...)

Anyway went out with my mum this morning to pick up some bits like underwear/socks etc (exciting, I know) and Christmas present for my little sister. But now have a nice winter scarf and gloves, i'll post pictures later.

I know this was meant to be more of a fashion blog but I'm sort of enjoying it becoming an online diary, if anything it is a nice way of me to keep track of experiences!

ciao for now x

Tuesday 15 November 2011

This morning I went for a run down the country road where I live, and across the fields I love. I hate exercise, I only really go for runs or walks to get to spend time there and to go exploring and find new things and places to absorb. I also used to love running in Winnal Moors but it's too far now. I mostly love spending time in the Shenley fields because there is never another person in sight, but I never feel lonely. I love how it is always foggy and the grass and sky eventually bleed together, I always pick a point on this horizon and run to it, and when I reach it I always want to go further. I always want to know what is on the other side of any hill. I have considered taking other, significant people here in the past because this place is important to me, but in the end I am always glad I have this place which I don't associate with any other people or happenings. I would post pictures so anyone reading this would understand why I adore going to these fields so much, but I am being selfish and keeping it to myself...

Hello Sunshine

Good Morning!

This is my attempt at starting some sort of blog about things I like/things that interest me, I have already got a tumblr as well so please excuse me if I become very lazy with this... but hopefully this will be more focused on fashion (and probably food!), whereas my tumblr is more for artwork and pretty pictures haha. I think this blog will also be more for me to keep track of these things that I like, things that inspire me, fashions I admire or buy, and recipes or food dishes that I want to try and can also save for later! enjoy :)

Just incase anyone was interested my tumblr is: melodygrossman.tumblr.com
and my online art portfolio is: melodygrossman.daportfolio.com

I thought I might as well start by saying that last night I came home from uni for reading/assessment week, and have already avoided doing any work this morning by going shopping with my mum and sister. We only went to Sainsburies and Marks and Spencers to do some food shopping, but I surprisingly managed to find a few bits in the M&S sale. It's definitely not normally my sort of thing but I was very happy to find these for cheap :)

Tassle Top

Rose Cardigan

(for some reason it looks massive there...)

(fake) Fur coat that is technically my mum's but it may happen to go missing...
(all from Marks and Spencer) Pictures of that coming soon.

And the best - Knitted innocent smoothie hat. I managed to find the one that was a bunny/cat/whatever it is!

Perhaps even better - Cherrygood to take back to uni!
Last night I stumbled across these books I bought outside Winchester Cathedral last year, I originally bought the 'Encore Heidi' to try and pick up French again, so may try and read part of it in the hope that i'll remember some of my A Level French in time for the summer road trip round France, cant wait!

I also bought my first actual paper copy of Vogue today. Maybe I'm growing up... or maybe i've just decided to already sign away any future pennies I may earn on beautiful things I can't afford.

My family also wanted me to cook them dinner/bake some cakes so I've decided to make a salmon dish, i'm thinking of trying this one nom
